Global Warming

Well, here it is November and it feels like spring thanks to global warming. But at what price are we enjoying these balmy temperatures? Would you hate me if I admitted that I miss the snow? Even though some days it's almost impossible to get out of my driveway and navigate the wintry road to Seagate? It isn't that far into town, but out where I live, whiteouts whip in off the water without any warning. I have to say, sometimes it's a good excuse to not be able to make it in to work at The Big Phil!

Oh well, I'm sure there are colder days ahead, so for now I'll make the most of this mild one.

First Day of Fall

Wow...what a weekend! Allison and I went to the Shellfish Festival. Lots of great music and food. I LOVE seafood chowder! And the lobster rolls were huge! I couldn't even finish mine. The weather was sunny but REALLY chilly - great chance to wear the big fluffy sweater Aunt Pearl gave me last Christmas. I love fall - and since today's the first official day of autumn and the sun's still with us, I have to admit I'm in a cheery mood. Even though Phil was a real pain at work this morning. Oh well, even he can't get to me on the first sunny day of fall!

I Just Bought The Cutest Boots In The World!

Well, this is my first real blog entry. I've never done anything like this before, but one of the girls (much younger!) girls at work (Jasmine) practically lives online, and she keeps bugging me to get connected, too. I just bought a new computer, so I figured maybe it's about time I make use of it. I've even got an e-mail address! (Now if only somebody would write to me!) My best friend Allison wants me to go on to this "Island Links" dating site to find a man, but I keep telling her there aren't any out there. Got home from work about an hour ago. I like the early-morning shift because The Big Phil is always so busy in the morning. I see all the usual, friendly faces, and that keeps me in a good mood. I think I like it when things stay the same for as long as possible. I know that change is inevitable and "a change is as good as a rest" and all of that, but what's wrong with knowing what to expect every day? Then you can plan things out. Organize. Stay of top of everything. Maybe that's why I like reading my horoscope every morning in the newspaper. This morning it said I would have a three-star day. "Finances, as you understand, make the world go around, especially right now. Tonight: Be realistic." My interpretation - I probably should have put that $60.00 on my VISA balance instead of buying those rain boots online. But they're so cute! (And I had to make use of that new computer!) And God knows I need them. My basement was flooded when "Hanna" passed through on the weekend, and I had to get down there to get my clothes out of the dryer! (Don't worry...the water didn't get anywhere near anything electrical!) That's it for today!
